Week 9 March 19th- March 23rd Hours: 6

I brainstormed ideas for Rez Week 2012’s promotional video on Monday and finished a total of 20 frames of animation for it. In an hour and a half of time, I storyboarded a concept of a “Rez Week 2012” ball in a continuous fall that would lead to information about Rez Week 2012.

I changed some of my original ideas to make the animation look cleaner and focus on being informative.

Week 8 March 12th- March 16th Spring Break

Week 7 March 5th- March 10th Hours: 8

My final Rez Week 2012 Shirt design.

We started uploading footages of CRM’s Fusion group onto the office computer. We are collecting all the a/v of interviews and clips to prepare for our upcoming Missional Community mini-documentary.

A new design came through in the middle of the week by one of the planning team member and this is the very final design for our flyers this year:

Week 6 Feb 27- March 2 Hours: 15

I arrived at 9 a.m. and set up lights and recording equipment. All the interns, including me, are entering into a full production week starting today. I acted as the photographer for our first few interviews with leaders of UT’s Men Basketball Team, Austin Stone, and other communities in touch with UT. Jeremy Story, the founder of Campus Renewal Ministries, flew in from NY for the week to give the interviews. We got to know each other better and his heart for the campus as he led the interviews with respective people. I asked each interviewee to sign CRM’s media release form prior to filming. 4 people were interviewed today back to back, with each precisely an hour long.

At 5pm, I took footage of Fusion Group for half an hour as groups of people came together to pray and worship. Today consisted a lot of hands-on work and partnering with one another cohesively. Booms, cameras, lighting equipments, and interview sets were all utilized today. I had a good amount of first hand usage for the first time on all those equipments. Lots of ongoing shirt designs and footages were also rendered and transferred to Rez Week planning team today.

In between the interviews, I started another design on shirts as well and worked on that for a few hours. I ended up with two ongoing designs on Monday, gaining a lot of first time knowledge about Illustrator and Photoshop. There were no consensus on a shirt design yet and we were watchful of how the way we choose a design would created a rift between the RezWeek2012 planning team. Justin Christopher, CRM’s Director, quickly reminded us that our relationships are the most important thing through it all. This internship’s environment has been such a blessing and challenge to my faith and practical skills.

On Wednesday, two of us interns set up throughout the next two days of interviews. I learned to utilize the ceiling as a reflector for lights when we interviews Chi Alpha’s ministry leader because the set space was comparatively tight. We prayed before we begin the interview. I sat behind the camera for 3 of them during Tuesday and Wednesday capturing wide, middle, and close-up shots every other question. Jeremy, Kimberly, Isaac (intern), and I drove to the BSM building, Longhorn Center for Christ, and back to the CHOP for our multiple interviews. All our interviews were really successful and prompt.

On Thursday, I set up all the interview equipment again for Kimberly to interview Jeremy and Justin, the founders of CRM. We wrapped up our interview portion of our feature length documentary successfully and Jeremy flew back to NY the next evening. We are now on the verge of making the promotional video for Rez Week 2012.

Week 5 Feb 20-24 Hours: 10

In the morning of decision making time by the Rez Week planning team, I conjured up another design on that Monday. I gave in my perspective and thoughts about another design our co-intern submitted and decided to go with his. On Wednesday and Friday, a few of us interns tweaked the shades of colors of the shirt. It is now not just in a bright blue but is filled with a gradient of colors spreading down the shirt. Our director sent out a final email on her decisions and I helped to look over it to make sure it was still honorable to those who submitted their designs and yet be graceful in telling the truth.

This upcoming week I was told to take up documentary projects, prep for interviews to be recorded on Monday.

Week 4 Feb 13-17 Hours: 8

I made last minute revisions to my RezWeek 2012 shirt design and came out with a totally different one. It never surprises me how limitless creativity is; it was really a joy to see it come together. I had a sudden idea about arrows and it could connect with the RezWeek theme “Divine Momentum”. I’ve held onto the symbol of an arrow a few weeks ago until now. Monday morning started off with a rigid blue and yellow arrow and within a couple of hours it turned into a feather-ended arrow with italicized words. There were also a few simpler designs ready to submit such as a tree and more text-based graphics. Wednesday’s workload slowed down a bit for we had just finished two major projects. I spent some time using Premiere, Flash, and After Effects. It is now a time to ready our hearts and minds for upcoming projects. One of our fellow interns, Faith, led Friday’s prayer time. We all had a corporate time of singing and sharing, which is what we all value above all our work to be done here.

Week 3 Feb 6-10 Hours:10

We are in the process of giving our media department a name to define ourselves. Since CRM here at UT is supplied with a/v equipments and steadfastly driven by a purpose to be spiritually ready to love and be challenged by the Lord and love the people around us, I was convinced the name, “Equipped”, fitted rather well. Later in the week, we also brought to the table “Render” and “Grip”. Both are affiliated with concepts used in the film industry and also carry a meaning beyond itself. We agreed to take it into consideration and will decide to establish a name for ourselves when the time comes. I designed some more Rezweek shirt designs this week as well. I can envision myself clearer 3 years from now to be just as hands-on, if not more, with an organization or group just as focused on sharing the Gospel message to people around us. I’m increasingly more aware of the impact we make through our production here at CRM. I envision that I would travel around with the skills and passions I’ve gained over the course of this semester. It is so worth it! During this week, I spent majority of my Wednesday hours at the Campus House of Prayer (CHOP) finalizing a shirt design for Rezweek to submit by this coming Monday.

At our Media Luncheon on Friday, we delegated future tasks such as Rezweek recording and mini-documentaries amongst the interns. In our process of picking up new tasks, I cannot help but feel really blessed to be with a group of people who love God and have the same vision with media. At our prayer hour prior to lunch, we shared our hearts for the campus and the world and reflected on the roots of our passion within media. We shared about what we struggled through and thus begin a journey of learning to hold each other accountable and encouraging one another. I led Friday’s prayer time and we each prayed over respective things on our hearts whether it be personal convictions or for the campus!

Week 2 Jan 30-Feb 3 Hours:11

A few more interns joined us this week, totaling a group of 6. I continuously edited and added text to an ongoing project we received last week. With few of the other interns, we completed and published our first production: OneCry 2012 Promotional Video. Two weeks long of work totaled about 3 minutes in length! It consisted of video and audio recorded by volunteers in NYC. I wait with great anticipation and excitement to see how our visions and hearts will increasingly align together through this internship.

Week 1 Jan 23-27 Hours: 8

With the amount of time I’ve researched and interacted with the people I now intern with, it was a smooth transition from volunteering at the CRM to now working with them. Few of the interns this week gathered together with Kimberly, our media director, and shared our visions and passions for this upcoming semester. We became more united in our goals and hearts behind working at CRM. This week, I started the graphics for Rezweek T-shirt and spent about 30 minutes learning and creating an explosion text through a tutorial of After Effects.
